Fluffy
I had been living in Australia all my life with most of my time spent in Brisbane city up until mid 2008 when I moved to London. On my mission to save money and sell off my worldly possessions, I borrowed my dads Nikon D80 SLR camera so I could take photos of my motorcycles before I sold them. I hadn't used an SLR camera since high school and I had never owned a compact digital camera. It wasn't long after using it that I fell in love with the quality and control an SLR has over compact cameras. At that time I decided to save up some extra money and buy an SLR for when I came overseas, making it my hobby to help occupy myself and keep me interested in travelling.

After a few months of saving and research I finally bought my camera in early May of 2008, an Olympus E-510 kit with 2 lenses (14-42mm & 40-150mm). It was a reasonably priced kit which I found to be perfect for kick starting me off into photography. After taking a few snaps here and there I started to accumulate a collection of photos that I thought were half decent; I then had an idea to create a website so I could show my friends and family the sights and places that I have seen. So that's where this website comes into the picture, it has become my photo travel journal and side hobby to photography.

At the moment I'm still a novice when it comes to photography, but I believe the more I photograph the better I will become. I pretty much use my camera any chance I get, and I especially love taking it away on holidays. Since my original kit-camera purchase I have bought some extra equipment and lenses, including an upgrade to a bigger and better body (Olympus E-30 and now the Canon 5D Mark II).

Although I have not taken any photography course I have learnt a lot from the books I have bought to help me along the way. Even thou the internet contains a wealth of information, I find it easier, better and more informative to purchase a book from pro digital photographers. You can check out what books I have read and recommend on this site.

Oh, and I'm sure a few people are wondering why I chose the name Fluffy-Cakes? Well, ummm… it's nothing special really, it's just a combination of two nick-names put together: I have used the name Beefcake on MSN for a number of years and my ex-roommates used to call me Fluffy (I won't explain why), and I came up with a ridiculously stupid name called… Fluffy-Cakes.
